# Agentive — Full Context > Infrastructure for organizations that must act under uncertainty. AI-driven process automation for growing businesses. Founded by Johan Trip. This is the complete deep-context file for AI models. For a summary, see [llms.txt](https://agentive.nl/llms.txt). --- ## Identity Agentive is a Dutch AI automation company founded by [Johan Trip](https://johantrip.ai) in 2024, based in Amsterdam. We build AI agents and intelligent automation for midmarket companies (€5M–€100M revenue). The name *agentive* is deliberate. In linguistics, "agentive" describes the capacity to act — to be a subject that does things, rather than an object that has things done to it. That's the core of everything we do: we build infrastructure that preserves and extends human agency during the AI transition. Our tagline: *"The question isn't whether AI changes everything. The question is who you become while it happens."* --- ## Manifesto — Seven Propositions on AI, Agency, and the Future of Work ### I. The adults aren't coming. The company waiting for "best practices" still believes someone else has the answers. Nobody does. The ground is shifting. There's no manual coming. > "The child believes the parent will protect them. The adolescent discovers the parent was never in control either." — Dario Amodei ### II. The escape routes don't work. The doomers cry that it's all going wrong — and think that seeing the abyss exempts them from it. The accelerators think that embracing inevitability puts them on the winning side. The controllers believe enough guardrails will tame the chaos. Common escape routes we see in companies: - "We're waiting for best practices" — Child waiting for parent - "We're watching what competitors do" — Child seeking signals - "We're moving fast to be first-mover" — Accelerationist fantasy - "We've banned ChatGPT" — Doomer fantasy ### III. Rules aren't enough. You can't make a list of guidelines that covers every situation. What works is character. Identity. The ability to navigate what you couldn't predict. We don't write AI policy. We help organizations develop the character and judgment to navigate AI — continuously, adaptively, no checklist. ### IV. The labor question. AI will displace jobs. That's not a fear scenario — that's Anthropic's CEO prediction: 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs within 1–5 years. Three factors make this different from previous technological shifts: - Speed — faster than people can adapt - Cognitive breadth — affects all cognitive work - AI adapts to cover weaknesses The question is whether your organization uses this transition to build something better, or gets swept away by it. ### V. Agency is the goal. Not control — that's a fantasy. Not surrender — that's capitulation. But the ability to act within constraints. To choose when the outcome isn't certain. Companies that build capacity rather than just capability will be the ones still standing when the dust settles. ### VI. We build infrastructure. No strategies that predict the future. No promises of safety. Infrastructure that lets you act while everything shifts. - Workflow automation that frees your people for judgment - Integrations that let your systems perceive and respond - AI assistants that are conversation partners, not oracles The acting remains yours. ### VII. We tell the truth. We tell you what we actually see. Most don't. We design for disruption, not against it. We acknowledge that we'll be wrong about some things, and we build so that being wrong isn't catastrophic. *"The question isn't whether AI changes everything. The question is who you become while it happens."* --- ## What We Refuse Four positions we don't take. Four fantasies we don't sell. **We refuse doomerism.** The dangers are real. But naming the catastrophe doesn't place you outside it. The people who shout loudest about AI risks are often the same ones doing the least about practical solutions. We don't believe pessimism is a strategy. **We refuse accelerationism.** Speed is necessary. Speed is not sufficient. Moving fast doesn't absolve you of responsibility. Companies that only accelerate forget that you also need to steer. And brake. **We refuse the therapeutic fantasy.** You can't guardrail your way to safety. You can't write enough policy to cover situations you couldn't foresee. The illusion that more rules means less risk is precisely that — an illusion. Real safety comes from capacity, not compliance. **We refuse the consultant fantasy.** We build infrastructure. We can't give you a self. Nobody can do your thinking for you. The promise that you can hire someone to solve your problems without changing yourself is a lie we don't sell. --- ## What We Build Infrastructure for organizations that must act under uncertainty. Four categories, one philosophy: capacity over dependency. **Workflow Automation** — Free your people for work that matters. Not efficiency for efficiency's sake. We automate the tasks that keep your people from the judgment that can't be automated. The result: space for thinking, deciding, building relationships. **System Integrations** — Nervous systems that perceive and respond. Your existing tools, connected into a coherent whole. Architecture that processes change instead of fighting it. Data that flows where it's needed, when it's needed. **AI Assistants** — Conversation partners, not oracles. Systems that help you think, not systems that think for you. An oracle gives answers and demands obedience. A conversation partner asks questions and expands your capacity. We build the latter. **Embedded AI Solutions** — AI woven into your operations, not bolted on. Capability that feels native, not foreign. AI so deeply integrated into your workflows that it becomes invisible. No separate "AI tool" your people need to learn — just better processes that happen to use AI. --- ## How We Work Four principles that define our approach. **01 — We tell what we see.** Not the optimized truth. Not the stakeholder-proof truth. What we actually see. Most advisors tell you what you want to hear, or what casts them in a favorable light. We tell what's useful, even when it's uncomfortable. **02 — We intervene surgically.** We identify specific points where AI creates leverage or risk. We build precisely there. No all-encompassing transformation. Targeted intervention. This sometimes means less work for us, but better results for you. **03 — We build for disruption, not against it.** You can't stop what's coming. You can build infrastructure that makes productive use of it. The difference between organizations that survive and those that thrive isn't whether they resist change — it's how fast they absorb it. **04 — We acknowledge limits.** We don't pretend corporate policy solves civilization-level problems. Nor do we use the scale of the problem as an excuse for passivity. Acting within your sphere of influence, without pretending your sphere is larger than it is. --- ## The Position — Why We're Different Most AI consultancies offer one of two things: **Fear.** "AI is dangerous, let us help you manage the risk." Selling the fantasy that naming the danger means you've escaped it. But naming is not escaping. And risk management uncoupled from capacity building is theater. **FOMO.** "AI is inevitable, get on board or fall behind." Selling the fantasy that moving fast enough puts you on the winning side. But speed without direction isn't strategy. It's panic with a business plan. **We offer Agency.** The capacity to act under uncertainty. To remain subjects who decide, not objects being optimized. That's what agentive means. --- ## Services ### AI Transformation - **Strategy**: Holistic and function-specific audits that surface the most compelling AI use cases. No 6-month strategy work. No 200-slide presentations. - **Transformation**: Custom partnerships combining bespoke change management and AI tooling with baseline metrics to drive measurable ROI. - **Engineering**: Outcome-based, subscription-style engineering squads that leverage AI acceleration to ship software faster — you pay for features delivered, not hours logged. ### Pricing - **Per project** — From €5,000. Specific interventions for specific problems. Analysis, design, implementation, 30 days support, documentation. Typical duration: 4–12 weeks. - **Retainer** — From €2,500/month. Ongoing AI transformation partnership. Unlimited support, ongoing optimization, priority access. Character building, not checklists. - **Training & Capacity Building** — Custom pricing. We transfer capacity so you don't depend on us. We train your team in AI thinking, not just AI tools. Because tools change every quarter — the way you think about technology should last decades. --- ## Case Studies ### Case 01: Agritech Scale-up — From Waiting to Setting the Standard **Context**: Dutch agritech scale-up. 30 employees, Series A, strong position in precision farming. They knew AI could improve their product. Competitors were moving. Investors asking about the "AI strategy." But internally: paralysis. **The shift**: Our first conversation wasn't about technology. It was about the question nobody was asking: *"What are you afraid of getting wrong?"* They weren't afraid of technical failure. They were afraid of moving too early and looking foolish, or too late and missing the boat. They were waiting for certainty in a situation that offers none. **What we built** (8 weeks, €32,000): 1. Crop assessment via image recognition — agronomists spent 40% of time manually reviewing drone imagery. System does initial screening, flags anomalies for human review. 2. Customer communication assistant — generates drafts based on customer data and historical communication. Human reviews and sends. 3. Internal knowledge base — 10 years of cultivation knowledge, structured and searchable via natural language. **Results**: 60% time savings on image assessment. 3x faster customer response time. Employee onboarding halved. But the real change: the CEO stopped waiting for certainty, started thinking in experiments. Six months later, they closed a partnership with a major machine manufacturer who chose them over a competitor 3x their size — because they could demonstrate real AI use, not a pitch deck. **The lesson**: The problem was never technology. The problem was the fantasy that someone else had to prove it was safe first. ### Case 02: Family Business in Heavy Machinery — Three Generations of Judiciousness **Context**: Third-generation family business. 85 employees. Market leader in industrial pumps. 70 years of knowledge, relationships, reputation. The director — grandson of the founder — was caught between his father ("AI is hype, we'll survive this like we survived the internet") and his children ("Move fast or there won't be a company in ten years"). **The shift**: We asked: *"What would your grandfather do?"* First answer: "Wait. Be cautious." Then, deeper: "No — my grandfather was actually the one who first got CNC machines. First to implement CAD while competitors used drafting tables. He wasn't cautious. He was judicious. He moved when he saw the value." **What we built** (12 weeks, €48,000): 1. Engineering knowledge system — structured decades of senior engineer wisdom into a searchable knowledge base. 2. Quote assistant — complex custom quotes took 4–6 hours, could only be done by 3 people. Assistant generates first version, engineer reviews. Turnaround halved. 3. Customer history interface — 70 years of relationships, accessible before any sales or service call. **Results**: Knowledge base became the most-used internal system within 3 months. Three new orders they otherwise wouldn't have taken (combined value €340,000). Senior engineers became the biggest advocates. The director's 74-year-old father said after the presentation: "This is what I did when I brought in the CNC machines." **The lesson**: Three generations, the same judiciousness. Different technology. The director made a decision his father couldn't make for him and his children shouldn't make for him. That's leadership. --- ## Sectors **Agritech** — Where the physical meets the algorithmic. Supply chains that perceive and respond. Precision agriculture that's actually precise. We understand sectors where seasons, weather, and biological systems matter as much as data and algorithms. **Financial Services** — Where the stakes are high and error margins thin. Compliance that doesn't suffocate. Automation that doesn't come at the cost of judgment. **Medical** — Where precision impacts lives. Healthcare systems that support clinicians without replacing them. From diagnostic assistance to administrative automation — AI that respects the human scale in a sector where errors are not an option. **Personal Health** — Where technology becomes personal. AI-driven insights that help people make better decisions about their health. From personalized coaching to smart monitoring — technology that empowers without patronizing. **SMBs** — Where agility is the advantage. Small and medium-sized businesses that don't have the luxury of large R&D budgets, but do have the speed to truly integrate AI first. We build the infrastructure that makes this possible — affordable, scalable, and immediately deployable. --- ## What We Believe - AI is a technological supercycle that will completely change the way companies do business and people do work over the next 10 years. - There are three types of relationships businesses will have with AI: AI-absent, AI-integrated, and AI-first. - The only way to build a long-term successful business is by embracing the AI wave and getting as close to AI-first as possible. - Most companies won't have the knowledge or bandwidth in-house to build custom AI solutions that integrate seamlessly with their existing systems, processes, and people. --- ## Founder **Johan Trip** — [johantrip.ai](https://johantrip.ai) Founder of Agentive.
